Alvina Pernot is a rising star in Puligny-Montrachet, and the granddaughter of Paul Pernot. The wines she bottles under her own name come from the village and the crus around it: Puligny-Montrachet itself, the Premiers Crus Chalumaux, Clos de la Garenne, Clos des Folatières, Les Caillerets and Les Pucelles, Meursault Poruzots and Pièce sous le Bois — and, at the top of the range, Bâtard-Montrachet, Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet, Chevalier-Montrachet and Corton-Charlemagne.

The quantities are small, which is what a young domaine working the best sites in Puligny looks like. The style is Puligny to the bone: white flowers, wet stone and a fine, chalky line rather than obvious weight, with the tension that the village’s best vineyards give. They are wines to follow closely — and, given how little of them there is, to take when they are offered.
