Domaine des Chezeaux

An Atherton Wine Imports Direct Import

One of the biggest stories to come out of Burgundy in late 2021 was the purchase of Domaine des Chezeaux by Charles Van Canneyt and his wife Anne-Sophie Gagey. The sale included parcels in Chambertin, Griotte-Chambertin, Clos St-Denis and a spread of Premiers Crus and village vineyards. They are now the largest owner of Griotte, with half of the total vineyard area in that gem of a Grand Cru.

Several lease agreements were in place, so Charles took full control of different parcels at different times. The couple has a new cellar in Gevrey and makes the wines in the elegant, charming style that Charles honed at Hudelot-Noellat, his family’s domaine.

The wines are made in the elegant, charming style Charles honed at Hudelot-Noellat. His own label, which carries the Échezeaux, Corton, Chambolle-Musigny and négociant wines, is a separate producer — see Charles Van Canneyt.
