Chantal Tortochot is the fourth generation to direct this family domaine in Gevrey-Chambertin, and the wines have the confidence of a house that knows exactly what its vineyards are.

The estate farms eleven hectares organically, spread over Gevrey-Chambertin, Morey-St-Denis, Chambolle-Musigny and Clos Vougeot. The aim is to let each vineyard speak for itself: low yields, fruit picked at full ripeness, and a range that runs from village Gevrey and the vieilles vignes Champerrier up through the Premiers Crus — Champeaux, Lavaux St-Jacques, Chambolle’s Sentiers, Morey’s aux Charmes — to Chambertin, Charmes-Chambertin, Mazis-Chambertin and Clos Vougeot.

Historically the fruit was entirely de-stemmed. In recent vintages Chantal has taken part of the crop in whole clusters, and the results have been outstanding: silkier textures, more complex aromatics, and the same clear voice of the vineyard underneath. It is a range built on the vineyard rather than the cellar, and the grand crus in particular have the depth and quietness that only old vines in these sites give.
